QuickLogic Names Ian Ferguson to Lead QuickMIPS Group

Brings a decade of experience developing and marketing RISC-based embedded processor solutions

Sunnyvale, CA, March 10, 2003 * * * QuickLogic Corporation (Nasdaq: QUIK), the leader in Embedded Standard Products (ESPs) today announced the appointment of Ian Ferguson as Vice President and General Manager of its QuickMIPSÔ Group. Ferguson will report to Reg Simpson, QuickLogic's Chief Operating Officer.
Ferguson, who has over 11 years of experience marketing MIPS- and PowerPC-based processors to the embedded market, joins QuickLogic from Integrated Device Technology (IDT). At IDT, Ferguson managed the strategic marketing group, responsible for new product definition, customer design-in activity and the management of the strategic alliance partner program.
"Ian's strong background in a range of marketing roles related to embedded processor technology complements the strong team and the market momentum that QuickLogic has established around its patented ViaLinkÒ technology," said Simpson. "The fact that he chose to join QuickLogic further validates our belief that Embedded Standard Products (ESPs) provide a compelling system-on-chip solution for today's design engineers."
"QuickLogic's ability to cost-effectively combine their programmable FPGA core with a powerful embedded processor subsystem on a single piece of silicon enables a unique combination of system performance, customization and flexibility that cannot be realized with ASIC or discrete processor + FPGA implementations", said Ferguson. "I am excited by the challenge of making QuickMIPS the standard programmable system-on-chip design solution for the design engineering community."
Ferguson began his career at IDT as the European Business Development Manager. Previously he was a technical marketing engineer at Motorola Semiconductor, UK. Prior to his five- year tenure at Motorola in the European PowerPC™ marketing group, Ferguson held various embedded design and sales roles. He holds an EE degree from Loughborough University in the U.K.
