The Motorola XIP68 CompactPCI® Pentium blade is designed to help manufacturers of equipment for demanding embedded applications make significant savings on inventory management and software development.

The XIP68 is a “universal” single-board computer - designed to operate as a CompactPCI host-slot controller or peripheral slot processor board, or within bus-free systems such as those based on the CompactPCI Packet Switched Backplane (CPSB or PICMG 2.16) specification.

Manufacturers of communications, industrial control, defence and aerospace equipment can now streamline their inventory management by using the XIP68 as a single field replacement unit. This approach simplifies software development because manufacturers now only need software for a single model across multiple applications.

The Motorola XIP68 features:
· Up to two Intel Pentium III processors, running at up to 1 GHz
· Dual 10/100/1000BaseTX Ethernet – via PCIMG® 2.16 (CPSB) or rear transition module
· Up to 2GB of ECC protected SDRAM
· Multiple internal PCI busses to ensure I/O bandwidth
· Up to two PMC sites for application specific modules

Availability
The XIP68 is available now. A print quality picture of the XIP68 is available to download from http://www.motorola.com/mediacenter in the `graphix´ section under `embedded computing building blocks´.
