If you are a hi-tech engineer, then you probably know what a GUI is. For the rest of us it is a Graphical User Interface. It is the screen that welcomes you at the 'cash point', it is the screen that shows you where to go on your 'SatNav' and it may even be the small LCD panel on your microwave. GUI's are all around us. We live in a GUI driven world.

This year's hi-tech developer's event, The Embedded Masterclass (http://www.embedded-masterclass.com) offers engineers the opportunity to learn 'all things GUI'. This year's event offers a 'GUI Development Workshop' as well has the chance to meet several of the worlds leading providers of GUI development tools. The Embedded Masterclass ...

MontaVista(tm) Fast Boot - Linux boots in 1 second or less at the Embedded Masterclass

MontaVista to demonstrate Linux booting in 1 second or less at the UK Embedded Masterclass http://www.embedded-masterclass.com, Cambridge May 7th, Bristol May 12th.
..

MontaVista Fast Boot is a Linux technology that allows you instantly display your real world critical data on the screen in 1 second or less.

Why it is that so important? Because it is an imperative in most safety critical applications mainly found in Automotive, Industrial or Mil/Aero domains to have your vital system data available to the user instantly after the system is powered. It could be engine check or gear info in a car, temperature and pressure readings for power plant or sonar data on a plane. It means that you have appropriate interfaces enabled and functional within 1 second, and be able to supply real data to update your graphics within 1 second. For example this could be drivers like CAN/MOST bus for automotive or ARINC/MIL1533 in the aerospace case.

Techn...

In these challenging times, when many component manufacturers are actively reducing their finished goods stockholding, Vero Technologies is going against the trend by investing in developing its online web shop, VeroDirect, http://www.verodirect.com and substantially increasing its stock levels. At launch, the most popular fast-moving products have been uploaded to the shop; eventually the company´s entire range of standard products will be available for purchase online. The VeroDirect site enables customers to check stock levels, which are updated in real time; they can place orders from anywhere in the world 24/7, pay using a credit card and have the goods despatched the next working day. VeroDirect enhances the already high service levels off...
